Laser Treatments: Let’s Talk Halo Pro

Over time, our skin endures weathering from everyday life, the aging process, and damage from sun exposure. As a result, we are more likely to develop sun spots, fine lines, uneven texture, discoloration, and eventually lose our natural, healthy glow. As experts in medical aesthetics, we use only the latest and most effective technologies, medications, and treatments to help you heal your skin and improve its overall health. This includes our highly popular selection of aesthetic laser treatments such as Moxi, CoolPeel, Laser Genesis, BBL, and Halo Pro.

Aesthetic laser treatments have gained popularity in recent years because of their safety, minimal downtime, effectiveness, and ability to resurface, rejuvenate, and treat vascular lesions of all types, and in this blog series we’re here to explain what to expect from each. In this post, we’ll lead you through what you can expect when you visit us for a Halo Pro laser resurfacing treatment!

What is Halo?

Halo is an advanced skin resurfacing laser that operates using two distinguishable wavelengths, allowing the laser to target skin concerns on multiple levels by removing the top layers of skin to stimulate collagen production and new skin cells. The HALO Pro fractional laser treatment uses the hybrid technology, a non-ablative laser and an ablative laser to create controlled zones of coagulation to chosen depths into the dermis that stimulates new collagen and fractionally vaporizes (ablates) micro laser channels in the epidermis. By triggering your body’s natural healing response, Halo laser technology can effectively address skin tone and texture while eliminating years of damage, leaving patients with glowing, rejuvenated skin.

What can you expect when you visit Wise Aesthetics for a session of Halo Pro?

During a Halo Pro treatment, patients should feel minimal to no discomfort. Prior to treatment, we use a topical anesthetic ointment on the skin to numb the treatment area and minimize the potential for discomfort.

The Halo laser handpiece rolls easily and gently across the skin. To combat heat sensations during treatment, cool air is blown on the treatment area to provide additional comfort. Most patients continue to feel a bit of warmth after treatment for an additional 30 to 60 minutes.

What can you expect post-Halo treatment?

Post-treatment there is minimal recovery time. Patients can expect to feel tightness and see redness, along with some mild swelling as their skin heals completely after treatment. Many have equated the feeling to a sunburn-like sensation.

Depending on the depth of your skin and the intensity of treatment, the length of recommended recovery time varies. Lighter treatments require less healing time and can give you an extra boost of vibrancy and smooth skin that’s ready to shine as soon as the next day. For more intense treatments, a few extra days of downtime is required for your skin to fully heal. Patients can expect their skin to be a sandpaper-like texture on days 2-3 as the microscopic epidermal necrotic debris (MENDS) make their way to the surface of the skin. The MENDS typically fall off by days 4-5. Gentle moisturizers and cleansers can be used during this time to protect the treatment area until it has naturally exfoliated.

Owner Crissy Wiseman, NP, and Jill Eicher, RN of our clinical team both recently underwent Halo treatments and achieved their own incredible results, which they discussed during our most recent appearance on Fox 59’s Indy Now segment. “Halo is top-notch for [addressing] skin texture, pore size, and discoloration. Crissy and I both had it done and it was just amazing to see what it could do for us.” -Jill Eicher, RN

How long do results last?

Results from Halo can last years, but it’s important for patients to continue to protect their skin from harmful UV rays and sun damage to maintain their results post-treatment. Most patients undergo a series of Halo Pro treatments to reach desired results, though Halo can be performed as a single treatment. Additional treatments only improve the appearance of your skin more and more each time.

Our experts will consult with you prior to treatment to discuss your concerns, analyze your skin, and work with you to develop a treatment plan that best aligns with your current goals.

In addition to Halo Pro, we offer the following laser treatments: CoolPeel, BBL, Limelight IPL, Laser Genesis, and just this year we’ve added Moxi to our selection. Stay tuned for our next Wise blog post where we’ll be introducing Moxi and letting you in on what to expect when you visit us for a Moxi laser treatment!
