What is Daxxify?
Daxxify (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is an FDA approved neurotoxin injectable treatment that has been clinically proven as an effective and long-lasting frown line treatment. Like Botox Cosmetic, Xeomin, and Dysport, Daxxify uses the botulinum toxin to reduce muscle activity underlying your frown lines, which reduces the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines caused by facial movements such as furrowing the brow and helps you achieve a more youthful appearance.
Uses of Daxxify
Daxxify is mainly used to smooth lines commonly referred to as frown lines or the “elevens” between your eyebrows. However, as with other neurotoxins, Daxxify can be used to treat multiple areas of concern. Lesser known uses for Daxxify include reducing the appearance of platysmal banding (the strips of platysmal muscles that run down your neck) in the neck and loosening the muscles in the jaw to treat symptoms of TMJ.
How does Daxxify differ from other neurotoxin injectables?
Daxxify utilizes peptide exchange technology to provide longer results than other neurotoxin injectables. Where Dysport and Botox Cosmetic are both formulated with an accompanying protein, Daxxify has a different method of formulation in which its’ proprietary peptide makes the addition of animal-derived stabilizing proteins unnecessary. Patients’ results from Botox and Dysport typically last 3-4 months, however over 50% of patients who received Daxxify injections still had noticeably improved frown lines after 6 months with some patients’ results lasting up to 9 months.
What to expect from the procedure?
When getting Daxxify treatments, we apply a numbing treatment to reduce discomfort. You can plan to return to normal activities immediately after treatment, as there is minimal downtime. Some patients may experience swelling or redness around the injection site, however these symptoms should be mild and go away within a couple days and can be reduced with an ice pack. Results will be apparent as soon as the next day after receiving injections!
