Your Treatment Journey

What to expect

From the moment you walk through our doors to the days and weeks following your visit, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Explore what to expect before, during, and after your treatment, including anticipated results and recommended treatment frequency—so you can feel confident, prepared, and excited for your transformation.

Before Your Treatment

Avoid Blood Thinners
Refrain from taking blood-thinning medications or supplements (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or vitamin E) for at least 5-7 days before your treatment to minimize bruising.

Limit Alcohol
Avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of swelling or bruising.

Discuss Medications and Conditions
Inform your provider of any medical conditions, medications, or allergies during your consultation to ensure the treatment is safe and effective for you.

Plan Ahead
Schedule your treatment with enough time before important events, as mild swelling or redness may occur after the procedure.

During Your Treatment

Consultation
Your provider will assess your lips and discuss your goals to create a customized treatment plan.

Preparation
The area around your lips will be cleansed, and a numbing agent may be applied to enhance comfort, though most patients find the procedure tolerable without numbing.

Injection Process
A small amount of Botox® or another neuromodulator will be injected into specific muscles around the upper lip to relax the area and achieve the desired "flip." The process typically takes 10-15 minutes.

Minimal Discomfort
You may feel a slight pinch during the injections, but the treatment is quick and minimally invasive.

After Your Treatment

Avoid Rubbing or Massaging the Area
Do not touch, rub, or apply pressure to the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent the product from migrating.

Stay Upright
Avoid lying down or bending over for 4 hours after the treatment to allow the product to settle properly.

Limit Heat and Exercise
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, or hot tubs for 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and ensure the best results.

Skip Makeup
Refrain from applying makeup around the lips for 24 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of irritation or infection.

Monitor for Side Effects
Mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few days. If you experience unusual side effects, contact your provider.

Expected Results

Onset of Results
You’ll begin to notice the effects of the lip flip within 3-5 days, with full results appearing after about 7-10 days.

Natural-Looking Enhancement
The upper lip will appear subtly flipped outward, creating the illusion of fuller, more defined lips and reducing a gummy smile.

Temporary Effects
Results typically last 2-3 months, as the neuromodulator gradually wears off.

Treatment Frequency

Maintenance Treatments:
To maintain the effects, treatments are usually repeated every 2-3 months, depending on your goals and how your body metabolizes the product.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is a lip flip, and how does it work?

A lip flip is a minimally invasive treatment that uses Botox® or a similar neuromodulator to relax the muscles around the upper lip. This allows the lip to subtly "flip" outward, creating the appearance of fuller, more defined lips without adding volume. It’s a great option for enhancing lip shape naturally.

How is a lip flip different from lip fillers?

A lip flip uses neuromodulators to relax the muscles around the lips, enhancing their natural shape and reducing a gummy smile, while lip fillers add volume and plumpness by injecting hyaluronic acid into the lips. A lip flip is ideal for a subtle enhancement, whereas fillers create more dramatic volume.

The results of a lip flip typically last about 2-3 months. Since the effects gradually wear off, many patients schedule follow-up treatments every few months to maintain their results.

How long does a lip flip last?

Is there any downtime after a lip flip?

A lip flip requires minimal to no downtime. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which usually resolves within a day or two. Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment, with proper aftercare.
